JODI Inter-Secretariat meeting - March 2025

The IEF chaired the first 2025 JODI Inter-Secretariat Meeting on 13 March 2025 virtually. All JODI partner organizations participated including APEC, EUROSTAT, GECF, IEA, IEF, OLADE, OPEC, and UNSD.

In reviewing the JODI performance for the last period, priorities on ensuring data quality, and increasing the participation of Members Countries were re-emphasized. For this purpose, the Inter-Secretariat Meeting addressed a series of events and activities that the IEF proposed to be held during the year 2025. These include joint capacity building training, technical workshops, and thematic seminars to take account of the many new developments in energy markets and data information technologies.

During this meeting, JODI Partners agreed to evaluate IEF proposals to reinforce the global process of data transparency by sharpening focus on sustainability data and related initiatives for which JODI is uniquely positioned to play a more active role. As a first step Partners will reach out to their member countries with the support of materials prepared by the IEF before reporting back on the availability of such data among their member countries.

The IEF reaffirmed the critical importance of energy data transparency in shaping informed energy dialogue, enhancing market security, and advancing a sustainable energy future. By ensuring accurate, reliable, and open energy data, the IEF reiterated its commitment along with Partners Organizations to provide a trustworthy platform and network foundation for official energy data that is readily accessible, reliable and complete and essential for deepening understanding, overcoming challenges, and seizing opportunities that arise in fast moving global energy markets and along with densely interconnected energy infrastructure networks and supply chains.
