IEF and Japan's JOGMEC Sign MOU on Clean Energy Technologies
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - The International Energy Forum and Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate exchanges in research related to carbon management and clean hydrogen.
The MOU seeks to promote social implementation of carbon management and foster international collaboration in the field of decarbonized energy and clean hydrogen production, which must scale rapidly to support climate goals.
"The IEF is pleased to partner with JOGMEC, an organization that shares our commitment to scaling clean energy technologies such as carbon capture and clean hydrogen. Rapid deployment of these technologies is vital to accelerate progress on climate action, especially in the growing economies of East Asia," said Joseph McMonigle, Secretary General of the IEF.
The collaboration is aimed at achieving decarbonization while balancing energy security and economic growth, taking into account each country's unique energy situation, industrial and social structures, and geographical conditions.
Mr McMonigle and JOGMEC Chairman and CEO Takahara signed the MOU at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Through the MOU, JOGMEC and IEF will further deepen the exchange of information on carbon capture, use and storage, clean hydrogen, carbon markets, and more. This will include holding joint seminars, conducting studies, and organizing workshops to promote the social implementation of carbon management technologies and mechanisms, as well as expanding the use of clean hydrogen.
