14th IEA-IEF-OPEC Symposium on Energy Outlooks
Wednesday 21 February 2024, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
The 14th IEA-IEF-OPEC Symposium on Energy Outlooks will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 21 February 2024.
The joint producer—consumer dialogue will be co-hosted by Joseph McMonigle, Secretary General of the International Energy Forum; H.E. Haitham Al Ghais, Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the of the International Energy Agency.
Current market volatility and the widening gap between different scenarios makes dialogue on energy outlooks and market signals more important than ever. The symposium is divided into four key sessions as follows.
- Energy Security, Technology and Sustainability—Scenarios and Markets: Welcome and scene setting remarks by the host and co-hosts, as well as IRENA and the GECF as guest organizations.
- Key Outlook and Comparative Analysis Findings: Presentation of the key findings of the IEA, OPEC and EIA Outlooks, and the IEF Comparative Analysis Findings.
- Trade and Investment in Energy Security, Market Stability, and Affordable Access: Panelists views on key trends and discussion on how governments and industry can manage excessive volatility and restore market stability and affordability.
- Policy and Energy Market Incentives to Reach Shared Goals: Panelists views and discussion on cohesive policy approaches to leverage markets and accelerate orderly and equitable transitions.
The annual IEA-IEF-OPEC Symposium on Energy Outlooks is part of a wider joint program of work agreed upon by the three organizations and endorsed by Energy Ministers at the 12th International Energy Forum (Cancún, March 2010) as part of the Cancún Declaration.
