Mission COP28 - Special Thought Leaders' Roundtable

In support of the many government and private sector initiatives that together will shape success at the UN COP28 Climate Conference hosted by the United Arab Emirates early December in Dubai, the IEF will convene a Special Roundtable on Thursday afternoon 11 October 2023 at the IEF Head Quarters in Riyadh.
Organized in close collaboration with the AEON Collective and the Clean Air Task Force on occasion of UN MENA Climate Week hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, invited thoughtleaders will review potential breakthroughs and collaboration options between governments, industries, and civil society to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emission targets mid-century and deliver on sustainable development goals this decade.
Dialogue will focus on the opportunity to accelerate global decarbonization by innovating, financing, and developing clean energy technologies, related infrastructure and know how that originate from:
- Initiatives MENA producer countries and industry have launched nationally and across the wider region to achieve climate and sustainable development goals.
- The role of MENA region collaboration with consumer countries to accelerate and scale economy wide decarbonization solutions.
- Successful COP28 outcomes that accelerate their deployment on global energy markets to meet climate change and sustainable development goals.
Sessions will be conducted under the Chatham House rule to enable an insightful and constructive discussion whose impact will extend across climate and energy knowledge networks, A brief background paper will help to guide this informal moderated roundtable discussion amongst a select group of senior leaders from government, industry, finance, and civil society organizations.
